Our Puppy Process
Step One
Reserving a Puppy

You can fill out a questionnaire at any time and your information will be saved.
Once we announce a breeding on our social media pages and website,
fill out a questionnaire (if you haven't already) and let us know of your interest in
that particular litter.
We will respond to all inquiries within a few days, as we do try to honor those
that have been waiting longer.

Please note, filling out an application does not guarantee you
a puppy from any particular litter. It is to give us an idea of your family and
lifestyle to help us in placing the ideal puppy in your home.
We currently require a non refundable deposit of $100 towards the
purchase price to get on a litter list once we have a confirmed pregnancy
(if the litter is reabsorbed or we are unable to provide you with a puppy due to
not enough being born, we will rightfully refund your deposit).

Once the puppies have been born and we have your puppy preference available,
another $500 will be due to reserve your puppy.
The remaining balance of the total price of the puppy
will be due when puppies are 6 weeks of age.
We prefer this as it allows us to focus on you and any questions you may have
when you arrive on puppy pick up day.

Our puppies are priced at $2500 - $3500 Limited AKC registration

At Backwoods Pond Labradors, we take pride in providing our customers with healthy, happy, and well-socialized Labrador puppies. We understand that bringing a new puppy into your home is an exciting journey, and we're here to guide you every step of the way. Our puppy process is designed to ensure that each of our puppies finds the perfect forever home, and that you feel confident and prepared as you welcome in your new family member. Here's a look at what you can expect from start to finish!
Step Two
Puppy Raising

Puppies are whelped inside our home. Their whelping box flooring is grip whelping pads to provide appropriate traction in helping puppies get on their feet.

At 3 days old we begin Early Neurological Stimulation.

At around 3 weeks old we introduce a designated potty space for them to start.

Once puppies are around 4 weeks old, they are given more space to romp around and play.
They get to experience multiple different surfaces from tile, grass, mulch, linoleum, stone/cement, hardwood, and dirt.
Our puppies will be interacting with our older dogs, hearing various sounds like the vacuum, leaf blower, gunshots, trash bags opening, dogs barking, and more.
They also have a TV that's on all day!
Puppies will have their first vet examination and get their first round of vaccines, microchipped, and fecal, all done between 6-7 weeks of age.

Puppies will go home on Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy food.
Step Three
Puppy Placement

Puppy placement is done around 7-8 weeks after we have evaluated the litter for show prospects and future hopefuls of our program.
Along with your puppy questionnaire and taking your puppy preferences into consideration, we also use the Volhard Aptitude Test to test the puppies at 6 1/2 - 7 weeks to get a better idea of certain behavioral traits that help us in placing puppies in their homes.

Puppies are placed in the order deposits are received.

Backwood's Pond Labradors reserves the right to first and second pick of the litter.

Step Four
Puppy Pick-Up

Puppies are available for pick up at 8 weeks old.
We will contact you to let you know the specific dates
and figure out which date works best for you.

If you are unable to pick up the puppy on one of those designated dates,
a $25 boarding fee per day is required.

We do offer if needed for families out of state
who would prefer their puppy be flown to them, we can help you find a service.
Most of our puppies out of state go ground transport we can help you with that also.
This would of course add on an additional charge for flight tickets,
puppy nanny fee, and pet travel fee (which varies per company).
Please let us know if this is something you'd be interested in.
We do not ship puppies in cargo
